Baby Photos and Chubby Toddler Legs
I just have to share some of the amazing newborn lifestyle photos my amazing friend took a couple months. She lives an hour and a half away, but was so nice to come and visit us. I haven't seen her since she took McKinlee's newborns 4 years ago, so it was fun to catch up. I really wanted a light airy lifestyle session because with 3 kids 3 and under I needed easy. I wanted to capture the happy and fun of our day to day, and that's exactly what we got. I am so happy with all of them!
Haley put a few more in her blog post and you can see them here. Eden is already 3 months old now and she's changed so much! I am so happy we decided to get these pictures to freeze that short time in our lives.

Happy Mother's Day
Leading up to this Mother's Day, I can't help but feel so grateful for my beautiful mom. I will be honest.. I was nervous moving back to Washington, because I was worried about being close to my family and how the dynamics would work. I never wanted Stafford to feel like he was put on the back burner. Our entire married life has been spent states away from family, and I felt like it helped strengthen our marriage and family so much to have to rely on each other right off the bat. But it was always nice to come home. My heart would ache in Minnesota. I just missed talking to my mom in person- Her back massages as she gives advice and a listening ear. She's like a best friend that will also clean your house and wipe your baby's bum over and over again. Since moving to Washington, we get to visit monthly at least and I have to say it has been awesome! I get to have my grown up talk time with my mom and my sisters like to babysit-- FREE babysitting is always welcome. And my dad basically takes McKinlee all day on Saturdays to work outside and get an ice cream cone. I have loved being close to family again.

36 Weeks + Anemic
I can't believe I'm at the end of this pregnancy already! I am ready to have my body back though, but I still have a little less than a month to go. I have been really down because I am gaining more with this one than I did with the other girls. That number just shows me how badly I eat and how little exercise I've gotten this pregnancy. One of the biggest differences this time around has been my energy. I never had the kick in energy in my second trimester and I have been exhausted for the most part of the last 8 months. After a few weeks of seeing my doctor here, they discovered I was anemic and told me to start taking iron supplements. I've always been borderline anemic while pregnant, but my numbers were low enough this time to cause concern. I took 2- 27mg pills a day with orange juice and I literally thought about my iron intake all day. I checked food labels and a common snack would be dry mini wheats with orange juice because I needed to take iron with vitamin C to help its absorption and I had to avoid Calcium around the times I ate iron so it wouldn't inhibit it. That worried me because I'm also not a big dairy fan, so my diet was just all over the place. Ha! I did everything I could to bump my numbers up, but nothing helped and I felt so defeated when the nurse called to tell me. I was so mad at my body thinking I should've done something differently. They referred me to a hematologist to possibly get an iron infusion. I had never heard of this before and was so worried about it! I prayed for comfort and felt a lot better going into the appointment. I just felt like I needed to listen to the doctor and this was a good thing for my body. I also did some reading about infusions and by the end of it I felt sad for and proud of my body. I had just been pregnant with Addie, then 7 months later we got pregnant again, then miscarried at 9 weeks, then had to have a D&C 2 months later because I was still bleeding, then got pregnant the following month. My body has been through so much the past year! I have made a lot of blood and lost a lot of blood. It was trying to keep up, but that's a lot to ask for I think haha. So I met with the hematologist and he was awesome. He made me feel so much better about everything and confident in the decision to get an infusion. He explained that it was like someone had sucked 3 pints of blood out of me. No one had ever said it like that! I didn't know I was low on blood, for some reason I was just thinking I was low on oxygen in my blood or something. He also told me a big concern is that I was at higher risk for hemorrhaging during delivery. That made it much more real and seem like a bigger deal to get it taken care of. We scheduled the infusion for the next day so they could run my numbers one more time and we were off!
It's a little intimidating walking into this big room because it's also the chemotherapy room. I felt like I was disrespecting the people there because I was healthy except for having a little less blood. I took a seat and waited for the nurse to hook me up. It was a pretty long process, but they gave me Benadryl first to help with any reactions and I slept through a lot of it. My hand was so cold during it! There was another pregnant girl there and she told me she's had to do it weekly for the last few months! WEEKLY??! I hoped I wouldn't have to come back at all, but that seemed unrealistic at this point. Afterwards I was really tired and went to the front desk. They scheduled me for a doctor appointment and another infusion 2 weeks later. I went home and took a nap as soon as Stafford got home from work. I was SO tired!
At my next appointment, my doctor said it was probably my Benadryl dosage, so they lowered it the next time around. He asked if I noticed a big difference and to be honest I couldn't really tell... I'm in my third trimester! I'm tired already and uncomfortable and I had been sick all week. He told me that I should've felt like superwoman afterwards. I got set up for my infusion, this time I brought an extra sweater to cover my arm. I wasn't as tired this time around which was nice because I could read more of my book. At my next appointment they'll test my blood and check my numbers! I hope, hope, hope that they're way better. I just want to see results and know what I'm going through isn't in vain.
Anyway- that's been my major struggle the last couple months. I just wanted to write it down somewhere.

Baby Number 3
If you haven't seen the news on Instagram, we are expecting baby number 3! (A big part of me wants to write "again!" but I know this time is different, so that doesn't seem fair.) I am now 18 weeks and feeling good. A little nausea and a lot of fatigue. I should suck it up and take Iron supplements- I'm sure that would help. I really struggle taking pills, so I've been trying to make it up with my diet. If you have any other iron remedies please share them! I haven't been in for a doctor appointment because of our move and switching insurance. I'm kind of freaking out that I won't be able to find out the gender on time because of all of that! I also don't want to jump in with any doctor... OBGYN's are a big decision! That person will be down there and you have to be comfortable with that. Fingers crossed that everything works out quickly.
I was 14 weeks here. I popped a lot sooner this time around, and my wardrobe is feeling it. I never give maternity clothes a priority because it's for such a short period of time, but I always wish I had clothes that made me feel prettier during those whale weeks. There are some rough points of pregnancy, but I really do love it. I love every part of it. I would have as many babies as my body would allow. But for now, we'll see how I do with these 3 ;)

Feature Friday: Jennifer DeMoro Jewelry
Hi guys! It has been a crazy couple of weeks. We flew out to Washington for Stafford to take the bar, I am staying with my parents while he flies back to Minnesota to pack up the rest of our apartment and drive it out here with his dad. In case you didn't catch the beginning of that sentence... Stafford TOOK THE BAR!!! That means no more studying!! And we can't start working until we hear back in September, so basically we get to play the rest of the summer! I am kind of grateful it takes a while to grade, because he so deserves a break and to be honest me and my girls need a break! haha. We all have our own trials, and the bar was a big one for us. I'm glad it's over and we can move on to better things. Yay!

How We Wore It: Summer Workout
Hi friends!
So of course I'm writing this as I eat my chocolate chocolate chip cake on the couch. It's all in moderation, right? I will tell you that after 2 babies and 3 pregnancies, I have realized that my body is not my own at this time in my life. I have to take supplements so I'm in baby making shape, I need to eat lots of fruits and vegetables to try and get the vitamins I need on my own, I try to go for walks with the girls when I can and stay active so I can keep up with them, all while my weight goes up and down with each pregnancy and birth. It is pretty amazing what our bodies are capable of.
As far as fitness goes, it is not huge on my radar, but I think we all feel the motivation kick in every once in a while. My main source of cardio is either a walk with my girls in the stroller, or a walk on the treadmill after bedtime. I'm not a fan of cardio. Flashbacks of middle school and running the mile and pacer haunt me to this day. I enjoy weight lifting though and I could do squats all day (exaggerating, obviously). I find if I put on my cute work out clothes in the morning I'm more likely to do something active earlier in the day, which usually leads to a park date with the girls, which lets us all get some energy out.
So here is my summer workout attire
And because I can't end a post without a picture of one of my adorable children...
I'll take all the abuse of my body to be their mom any day.

Red, White, & Blue
First of all, thank you so much for your comments on my last post. I didn't realize the feelings I would have after pushing publish. I almost felt like I relived it all over again and this time with everyone knowing each gory, emotional detail. I do hope it helps someone some day realize there are a lot of us out there that have gone through this crazy emotional pain. We love you. It takes time to heal and you can take as much time as you want or need.
Happy 4th of July! I love this holiday. I love to see pride in our country and people celebrating our freedom! Plus those colors... They just make you happy. Not only did we celebrate the actual holiday, we also celebrated Stafford taking the day off of bar study! My happy dance quickly ended when he told me he's going to put in more hours the next 3 weeks leading up to the test. Boo. This is where I have to suck it up and be an awesome super wife and mom for 3 little weeks so we can have a great life. I can do this! Back to our 4th. We started the day grabbing some breakfast and heading to my favorite local chlorinated pond/lake. This is how I do the outdoors! No bugs... clean water... concession stand nearby... that is the life.
The clouds kept it pretty cool, so the girls didn't last long. We headed home for lunch and naps. Of course only Addie slept because who can really sleep when awesome dad is home? (insert crying emoji here) We packed the girls back in the car and headed to our friends' for a BBQ and some fireworks. Is there any other way to celebrate?

It was a fun patriotic day and I'm so happy we got a little break before the bar takes over my life.

My Miscarriage Story
This may be the most emotional post I ever write. It's hard to put words to everything that's happened the past few months.
I decided to take the girls with me, hoping it would be a quick visit with just a listen to the heartbeat. Addie stayed in her carseat and McKinlee played with some toys next to me as the Dr. put the doppler to my stomach. We heard a faint heartbeat, but it was mine. After trying for a bit she assured me that I was still early and it could be hard to find. She pulled out her handheld ultrasound machine and started to look around. She saw some blood flow, but it was near the edge of the sac so it could've just been mine. She was a little more worried at this point and had me schedule an ultrasound with their other office to take a better look. I've had little concerns with both girls and they turned out to be fine, so my mind hadn't wrapped around what was happening. I was still feeling positive. My ultrasound wouldn't be until after lunch, so once I got to the car I started driving to Chick-fil-a so the girls could play around a little bit in between. I called Stafford on the road and as I started to explain to him what happened I had to pull over. It was hitting me more and more that we may have just lost our baby. As tears filled my eyes he told me he was leaving the school to meet us. We sat through lunch and I tried not to think about it. I didn't want to think the worst could happen. After lunch we headed to the office and in to our ultrasound appointment. Right away we could tell from the technician that there wasn't any happy or reassuring news. Stafford looked at the monitor and gave me a little head shake that he couldn't see any movement or heart flickers. Right then tears started streaming down my face, I tried to hide it as she finished the exam. I got dressed and she came back in and let us know our baby didn't make it. She hugged me with tears in her eyes, offered her condolences and left the room. We headed out to the car where we both sat and cried. We told each other how guilty we felt about ever feeling anything but excited about this baby and how much of a blessing each baby/pregnancy is. This was absolutely the saddest I have ever felt.
My doctor asked what I wanted to do next. My options were surgery (a D&C), taking medicine to help things along, or let it happen naturally. The baby had stopped growing at 8 weeks even though I was 11 weeks pregnant when we found out, so there was a little concern about the time frame and my body getting an infection. After some thought I decided to try naturally first and move on from there. Nothing happened in the following days, so I took the medicine she prescribed which was a battle for me. It just broke my heart that there are drugs to help you miscarry your baby. I wanted this baby. I loved this baby. I didn't want this baby to leave my body. I wanted it to live. I wanted to hold it in my arms in the hospital delivery room and see who it would look like. See if it was a boy or a girl! Give it a name and take it home to our family. To meet it's sisters!
You don't get pregnant assuming you're going to lose your baby. The moment you see those lines, you start planning and dreaming of that baby in your life. Letting go of those dreams was hard.
I took one dose of the pills and waited. I finally started spotting, but nothing more. The next night I took another dose around 7:30. I started cramping pretty quickly and it was really painful. We put the girls down and got ready for bed. I started bleeding more and more and had more clots coming out. I was told by friends to buy the huge pads that you use after giving birth, but I wasn't mentally prepared for the amount of blood that I was seeing. I couldn't leave the toilet. I can't describe that feeling of losing everything that kept your baby healthy and growing and alive. I felt so empty. Stafford was with me when I needed him and gave me some space when I wanted privacy. It felt like hours went by in that bathroom. When my bleeding slowed for a moment we decided to say a prayer for us and for that sweet baby. As Stafford was praying I felt nauseous and light headed. As soon as he ended the prayer I went back to the bathroom. He handed me the garbage can and I threw up. Losing that much blood so quickly made me so sick. Stafford said I was really pale, so we decided to go to the ER to make sure everything was ok. At this point it was around midnight so we had a friend come over to be with the girls. I tried to shower but started shivering and shaking so Stafford wrapped me in a towel and laid me in bed until our friend arrived. He helped me get dressed, and walk down to the car.
The ER was fairly empty so we got in quickly. After a few hours, an ultrasound and some pain medicine we were sent home and they said everything that needed to come out, had. I continued bleeding quite a bit the next few days and it tapered down to almost nothing. I knew from others' stories that your body just takes time to heal and we're all different. So there it was. It was all over. This pregnancy that we were getting ready to announce, that we were planning our summer around, that we WANTED was now over. I wanted to stop being sad, but at the same time if I wasn't sad anymore than who would remember that baby? If I wasn't thinking about it and crying about it, who else would be? Is that baby just forgotten forever?
In the days following all of this I spent a lot of time reading talks about trials, miscarriages, etc. I found a lot of peace in those messages. I received some personal revelation about this trial and it helped me in my healing. My girls also kept me from wallowing the day away. I felt like I was in a good place with everything except every time I visited the bathroom I would be reminded of what we'd been through by the little amount of bleeding I still had.
My little bleeding continued for almost two months before I finally decided to listen to Stafford and talk to my Dr. about it. I'd talked myself out of it so many times before but knew I needed to put this all behind me and go over it with a Dr. I went in for a check up and another ultrasound. The Dr. told me that there were some remnants of the pregnancy still in my uterus that needed to come out.
My heart stopped. Again?!? Could I really be going through this again?? My eyes filled with tears as she continued to explain that I would need a D&C the next day. I called Stafford sobbing telling him the news. We got a babysitter for the next day and prepared for surgery. The nurses and staff were all so nice about everything. It was weird because I'm sure they're used to seeing moms who had just found out the terrible news, but I had held on to mine for 2 months. I had been through the coping, the crying, the acceptance. My mind was kind of all over the place. I knew the baby wasn't there anymore so it made it easier knowing they would just be removing tissue/blood. All I remember is Stafford saying goodbye and then slowly coming back to consciousness afterward. The doctor that did my surgery was amazing. She told me she got a lot of blood out and there were no complications. I was so relieved. After a few days, my bleeding had finally stopped. After almost 3 months of bleeding, I was done.
This experience was long. It was really hard and really sad. I cried more in that 3 months than any other time in my life. I was depressed at times, extremely grateful for the 2 babies I do have, and felt even closer to my Heavenly Father. We go through these trials to strengthen us. I have always loved this scripture, "I will go and do the things which the Lord hath commanded, for I know that the Lord giveth no commandments unto the children of men, save he shall prepare a way for them that they may accomplish the thing which he commandeth them." (1 Nephi 3:7). I liken this to trials in general and my miscarriage. I don't believe Heavenly Father would have made me suffer in vain. He wanted me to get through it and learn something and I did.

Mommy Style Monday: Day at the Park
With summer finally here, my girls and I have been enjoying the sunshine. It gets pretty hot and humid here in Minnesota, so I try and plan activities accordingly. We love the splash pad (for at least the first 10 minutes), but McKinlee would much rather be at the park. We try and get out 3 or 4 times a week to explore different parks. To make it easier on me, we pack McKinlee's backpack with our essentials instead of my huge diaper bag. I always keep diapers and wipes in the car and pack the backpack with snacks, water bottles, and some milk for Addie. We also keep sand toys in the back of our car so we're ready to party at any given moment. -That sounded really dorky when I read it back, but that's just the stage of life I'm in! I'm embracing it.
As always, I love doing these link ups with other bloggers to see their choices. You can check out the other ladies below to see how they get ready for the park with their littles.
